Kinesis is a platform for collecting, processing and delivering streaming data on AWS.  You can use Kinesis platform to load and analyze streaming data, and build custom streaming data applications for specialized needs.

In most cases, streaming data is continuously produced by thousands of data sources. In most cases, they are delivered at the same time in small size. Examples of streaming data includes log files generated by servers or applications, game data generated by players in a gaming software, and content generated from social media networks.

Amazon Kinesis Streams collect and process large streams of data records in real time. It is capable of capturing large amounts of data, terabytes per hour, from data providers or producers.

Amazon Kinesis Streams supports rapid and continuous data intake and aggregation. Imagine if it can be used to capture data from IT infrastructure services, web or application servers, or web clickstream data generated by sites like Netflix.

The data-processing applications, which consume data from Kinesis streams, known as Amazon Kinesis applications. These applications can use the Kinesis Client Library (KCL) or SDK, and they can run on Amazon EC2 instances. The processed records can be sent to dashboards, generate alerts, or send data to a variety of other AWS services.
